New Year is always that time for new resolutions… eat healthily, exercise, loose weight, drink less. What ever it may be we all feel under pressure to make changes at this time of the year.

But what if you’re still trying to cope with the after effects of Christmas and the festive season? Racing around buying stuff for the big day, visiting family, entertaining friends… it takes it all out of you!

Instead of energy, rest and joy we can be feeling exhausted, anxious and overwhelmed. Back at work, tired and flat, no rest, no recharge just back to it, the routine of life.

If you are feeling like this please see these signs as warning signals that it’s time to do something about it. You may be suffering from Emotional Burnout and before you convince yourself everything will be okay, take a moment to continue reading, go through the checklist and ask yourself how many relate to you –

Warning signs for Emotional Burnout include:

  • Lack of energy
  • Frustration with yourself and others
  • Not wanting to socialise
  • Feeling angry
  • Procrastination and avoidance behaviours
  • Low self-worth and self-esteem

If the symptoms above are familiar then it is time to make changes but not just for the new year, it’s time to make changes to your life for life. Self care can help you. Making time for yourself, setting firm boundaries, sleeping well and putting yourself first are all key to feeling good, having energy and looking forward to a happy life.
